Dune - The Book (color roughs)

So here is another work in progress post... the next step after the sketches was to select the best parts and figure out the final mood for all the illustrations.

First I have created a quick line-up of black&white value thumbnails. I am just going to use these as value references to keep all illustrations readable during the process.

After this I went through all the selected comps and done a rough color version to establish the overall palette and lighting I would like to use.

Now I am in the process of shooting and creating image specific references (real models and 3d sculpts / models), I hope I can post some of those as well soon.
