Here is a step-by-step walkthru about the creation process of the previously posted character design. I hope it could be useful for someone... :-)
Btw if anybody knows some cool freeware screen-capturing stuff please drop me a comment here. It might be a bit easier to record the whole process as a video... Thanks in advance!
Two character concepts for a project The Dark Lake what I have started with friends from work... The girl is kind of a hi-tech sherpa and the man is hunter.
And here are the final step and the final image of course. I am quiet happy with it as I wanted to keep it on a kind of a game character concept state and didn`t wanted to render it till full realism. I hope it was useful for anybody... heh
Here are the next steps... This time I moved from the basic speedpaint further and created a more detailed state. Its still loose enough, but I have the final composition and characteristic of the image. Hope you like it!
I thought it could be useful to make a tutorial and of course its a really good excuse to not just post sketches here, but also a more detailed artwork. <;-D I will work on this image for three days (about one/one-and-half hours per day) and I will publish the work process with some comments. Hope its gonna be useful for somebody and feel free to leave any comments for sure! Cheers!
We just have watched the film Kung Fu Hustle (Gong Fu in mandarin) from Stephen Chow yesterday and I am still totally amazed! This guy is a genius - the chinese Tarantino! (Pappito! Thanks for the movie!) So the inspiration comes from there... just a fast speedpaint about a hot girl - wanted to keep it really loose and rough. About 40 mins with some basic custom brushes in PS CS3.
Sorry for not posting for a long time, was a bit fed up with work... Fast black and white character sketches this time - 15 mins each. Hope you like it!
